It’s not hard to find shabu shabu or steamboat restaurants that serves pork, but it’s a challenge when you are in a shopping mall. Luckily, Sukishi exists. Sukishi is a Japanese Sukiyaki & Sushi buffet restaurant that serves 4 kinds of meat: chicken, lamb, beef and more importantly pork.
There are 4 types of soup base here: shabu shabu, sukiyaki, miso and kimuchi. We picked the shabu shabu and kimuchi for a contrast of flavor. Despite its plain appearance, the shabu shabu soup was already tasty on its own and did not feel MSG-laden, while the kimuchi soup’s spiciness was spot on.
The food bar has close to 30 different ingredients, mostly vegetables and processed food with a few seafood options like prawns and lala. For RM39.80++ and eat all you can in a shopping mall, I guess the price is more than alright.
Overall, we were satisfied with the quality of the ingredients, as the prawns and meat slices were fresh and highly enjoyable. And as expected, the pork slices were the most delicious and went well with the spicy miso dipping sauce. That said, Sukishi’s sushi was terrible so don’t have high expectations for it. Personally, I thought they were worse than what you get at supermarkets.
FYI we had this meal at their newest branch in the Starling mall. Sukishi can also be found in IOI Mall, Puchong.
